Arrive in Ulaanbaatar and meet at the airport. Transfer to a 4 Star hotel. After lunch in Modern Nomads restaurant, tour begins at Chinggis Khaan square, situated in the heart of the city with views of the Parliament building, Mayor’s House, Opera House, Cultural Palace and many other modern buildings. We continue our trip to visit the Gandan Monastery. This is Mongolia’s largest and most important center of buddism, which was built in 1838. The highlight is the magnificent Migjid Janraisig Temple. Hundreds of images of the Buddha line the walls of the temple, and the centerpiece is an awe-inspiring statue of Migjid Janraisig. The 26-meter high sculpture is made of dazzling copper covered with gold. Inside the hollow statue are 334 sutras, 27 tons of medicinal herbs and over 2 million bundles of mantras. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a Mongolian traditional concert. A welcome dinner will be held at the Peace Pub. Overnight in Ulaanbaatar.
After breakfast, we drive to the Khustai National Park (96km, 1.15min), world famous for the successful reintroduction of the Przewalski horse. In addition to these wild horses, roaming freely in their land of origin again, the park and surrounding area have much to offer lovers of nature and exemplifies the culture of our country. Hiking and enjoying nature and animals. After lunch we visit herder’s family to experience local people’s daily life. Dinner and overnight at the ger camp.
We drive back to Ulaanbaatar. Our destination is Terelj National Park, a nature reserve set in a deep valley between forested hillsides, granite boulders, and mountain streams. Transfer to the Dream Terelj lodge located 50km from Ulaanbaatar. After lunch we enjoy the Terelj National Park and visit yak breeder’s family to experience local people’s daily life. Dinner and overnight at the Dream Terelj ger lodge.
Begin with a visit to a remarkable monument, a grand statue of Chinggis Khaan astride his horse (50km, 40min). The statue stands 131 feet tall atop a 33 foot high coliseum. Built at the site where legend holds, Chinggis Khaan found a golden whip that inspired his future conquests. It is said to be the world’s largest equestrian statue. Afterwards, we continue our trip to the 13th Century National Park (37km, 40min). The park is a re-creation of life in the kingdom during the 13th century. Visitors can enjoy annual celebrations, customs, and traditional craft work. Here the guests can dine with Khaans and Queens, visit the residence of lords, learn to write in Mongolian script, and play a horse headed fiddle. Enjoy lunch at the village. Late afternoon, we drive back to the Dream Terelj lodge (87km, 2h) for dinner. Overnight at the Dream Terelj ger lodge.
After breakfast we drive to Ulaanbaatar and visit Bogd Khaan Palace museum. The complex was built between 1893 and 1903 and named, “The Temple of Developing Wisdom” and dedicated to the 8th Bogd King Javzandamba, the head of the Mongolian religion. On April 1, 1926, after Bogd Khaan’s death due to illness in 1924, a state museum office was created and it was decided to transmit the remaining property of the Bogd Khaan to public museum ownership. It was converted to a museum building, displaying objects of historical and artistic value, religious idols, the royal collection of stuffed animals, and other items which had been owned or used by the Bogd Khaan. Now the Bogd Khaan Palace Museum consist of seven Summer Prayer temples and the Winter Palace, which was built in the European style. Afterwards, we ascend the 200 steps to the top of Zaisan Monument to enjoy panoramic views of the city and the four sacred mountains that surround it- Bayanzurkh, Chingeltei, Songinokhair Khaan and Bogd Khaan. Lunch will be at the BD Mongolian Barbeque restaurant. After lunch, there will be shopping at the Gobi Cashmere Factory Outlet and the State Department Store. Enjoy a farewell dinner at the Peace Pub. Overnight in Ulaanbaatar.
